Career, social mobility, and the unwritten codes no one explained.

You made it in. Why do you still feel like an outsider?

For women who have entered high-opportunity environments without inheriting the codes that govern them, and now want to stay, claim their place, and grow without becoming someone else.

The idea behind the name

Getting in is only half of social mobility. The other half is learning how to inhabit the place you have already earned.

A Segunda Porta, “The Second Door,” is what appears after admission, qualifications, and that first achievement. It does not demand more technical competence. It demands codes that rarely appear on a résumé, because most people in those rooms inherited them long before they began working.

You may recognize this

There is a gap no one else can see.

From the outside, your journey looks complete. From the inside, you are still running into rules no one explained, because to those who inherited them, they have always seemed obvious.

01

You arrive prepared

You have the education, experience, and technical expertise. Yet you discover that part of the work happens through conversations and relationships that never appeared in the job description.

02

You watch other people move ahead

They are not always more capable. They simply recognize the paths, signals, and possibilities that were part of the world they grew up in.

03

You learn the rules after the fact

You understand the meaning of a conversation or decision only after it has happened, because no one explained a rule everyone else seemed to know.

04

You do not know what to ask

The hardest part is not finding the answer. It is realizing that there is a hidden question you have never had reason to ask.

If more than one of these signs feels familiar, it may be worth discovering which one is affecting you most right now.

Without erasing where you come from

Where you come from explains where your story began.
It does not determine how far it can go.

The goal is not to teach you to pretend you were born into that world. It is to help you be seen, heard, and recognized in it without hiding the person you had to become to get there.

Behind the words

Cami Bertoluci

Cami Bertoluci

I learned the codes after I got in.

I come from a working-class family and built a career spanning more than twenty years in major fashion and retail companies. I moved through functions, roles, cities, and rooms no one from my background had ever mapped for me.

For a long time, I believed competence and good work would be enough. They got me in. Then, through experience, observation, and many mistakes, I had to learn everything that never appeared in a job description.

A Segunda Porta is the reference I wish I had found when I had already come a long way, but was still trying to decode everything on my own.

What no one explained after you got in.
