This policy sets out the principles that guide the selection of topics, the development of each text, and the relationship between this project and its readers.

Purpose

Segunda Porta was created to examine a particular experience: what happens after someone earns an opportunity but realizes that getting in does not necessarily mean knowing how to inhabit that space.

The texts begin with real experiences and develop into reflections on work, repertoire, belonging, social background, leadership, and the unwritten codes of institutions.

This is not a source of professional, psychological, legal, or financial advice. It is a journal of reflection shaped by lived experience, research, and personal interpretation.

Authorship and responsibility

The texts are written and editorially directed by Cami Bertoluci.

First-person accounts reflect the author’s memory and understanding of events. Like all memory, they carry perspective, context, and the distance created by time.

The interpretations presented here belong to the author and do not necessarily represent the views of the companies, institutions, or individuals mentioned.

Experience and context

The stories published here are not presented as universal truths.

An individual experience can reveal collective structures, but it does not replace research, data, or other perspectives. When a text moves from a personal experience to a broader reflection, that transition will be made clear.

The purpose is not to turn one trajectory into a model. It is to use experience as a starting point for questions that many people recognize but cannot always name.

Sources and references

When an article draws on research, books, data, concepts, or the work of others, the relevant references will be identified within the text or at the end of the publication.

Sources are selected for their relevance, credibility, and direct relationship to the subject being discussed.

Excerpts from published works and statements by third parties are used in a limited and contextualized manner, with appropriate attribution.

People, companies, and privacy

Some stories involve real people, companies, and professional situations.

Whenever identification is not essential to understanding the text, names and specific details may be omitted or changed to protect the privacy of those involved.

The absence of identifying information does not turn an account into fiction. It is an editorial decision intended to keep the focus on the experience and what it reveals, rather than on the exposure of individuals.

Editorial independence

The topics, opinions, and conclusions published by Segunda Porta are not determined by brands, employers, or commercial partners.

If a publication involves sponsorship, a partnership, a commercial relationship, or any connection that could affect the perception of editorial independence, that information will be disclosed clearly.

Products, cultural spaces, books, and experiences may be mentioned independently when they are a legitimate part of the narrative.

Editing, translation, and digital tools

Every text goes through a process of editing, language review, and preparation for publication.

Digital tools may support stages such as organization, language revision, translation, and format adaptation. The choice of subject, the experiences being narrated, the point of view, and the editorial responsibility remain human and belong to the author.

The English and Spanish versions aim to preserve the meaning, rhythm, and intention of the original text rather than reproduce every sentence literally.

Corrections and updates

Editorial rigor also requires a willingness to correct mistakes.

Factual errors, incorrect attributions, or inaccurate information will be corrected once identified. When a change materially affects the meaning or understanding of a text, the update will be disclosed.

Changes made solely for grammar, typography, or clarity may be introduced without an additional note.

Copyright

The texts, photographs, and other original materials published by A Segunda Porta are protected by copyright.

Links may be shared, and short excerpts may be quoted, provided that the author and the original publication are properly credited. Full reproduction, adaptation, or commercial use requires prior authorization.

Contact

Comments, corrections, and editorial questions are welcome.

The commitment of this space is not to provide definitive answers. It is to build honest questions, make invisible codes easier to recognize, and expand the possibilities available to those who arrived without being given the map.
